The IUCN national committees of several Mediterranean countries, as well as the Interregional Committee for Europe, North and Central Asia (ICENCA), the European Policy Advisory Group (EUPAG) and the Working Group for National Committee Development (WGNCD) will meet on 28 Sep. One day later, the Spanish IUCN Committee will host its annual meeting.

The prize awarded by the Malaga City Council recognizes the cooperation efforts put forward by IUCN-Med for over 20 years to conserve Mediterranean species and nature, protect environmental values through its work with associations, raise public awareness about natural environments and tackle climate change.

If nature provides us with many types of food and services, it also plays a role for "spiritual food".

Various initiatives, projects, NGOs, academics and scientific institutions will gather during this week to discuss some of the hottest topics in Mediterranean conservation, including bycatch of marine vulnerable species, conserving biodiversity on Mediterranean islands and the linkages between tourism and climate change.
