The link between Mediterranean nature and art
LINKS

On its 20th anniversary, IUCN-Med proposes to approach nature conservation issues from different angles, including art and culture. If nature provides us with many types of food and services, it also plays a role for "spiritual food". Indeed, artists have often found their inspiration in nature, from the first humans who painted animals on the walls of their caves to our days. Nature inspires all arts, from painting and sculpture to music and theatre or architecture.

To illustrate this fact and share it with the participants and the citizens of Malaga, we will offer a very varied program of cultural and artistic activities, both at the venue and in the city.

Itinerary of the Museums of Malaga

Malaga is a city of museums. This free route, prepared by art historians, will allow you to visit them regularly and discover works of a wide variety of styles and from all periods, whose theme or object is nature.

Itinerary  “City architecture, nature and climate”

Nature is present in all cities, it influences them and also receives their influence. Thanks to this guided tour of Malaga, you will gain insights into the multiple interactions between architecture and urbanism, on the one hand and nature on the other, with special attention to the issue of sustainable development and climate change.

Mural paintings

Art is also expressed in the city, as "street art". But also this art is often inspired by nature. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of IUCN in Malaga, graffiti artist Alonso Murillo will paint a huge mural throughout the week inspired by biodiversity and the threats it faces.

At the same time, two graffiti artists will introduce the participants to the meetings allowing them to express themselves on a "wall" on the theme of conservation and sustainable development in the Mediterranean.

Participatory performance at the meeting place, "biodanza"

Dance is a citizen’s art, but also an organic type of art. During the breaks, between the dialogues and debates that will take place in the Diputación de Málaga, two professional dancers, Ilargui Zabaleta and Andoni Larrabeiti, will offer performances and introduce the participants to biodanza.

Nature-themed rap battle in the city

Rap is the music that most often addresses social issues. On this occasion, we will organise “rap battles” in the city dedicated to the theme of nature and its protection.

Concert

On the occasion of the celebration of 20 years of IUCN in Malaga, during the evening a concert will be held in the Botanical Garden of La Concepción.
