In the framework of the Interreg Med project Posbemed, that is addressing the challenges and opportunities related to the management of Posidonia beach/dunes systems in the Mediterranean, IUCN Med held a webinar on the management of Posidonia banquettes in Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas.

The webinar was organized in the framework of the project Posbemed, that is addressing the challenges and opportunities related to the management of Posidonia beach/dunes systems in the Mediterranean.

The results of a recent survey implemented among the beach managers in the region was presented and highlighted the results relevant for each of the countries involved according to the language group. The presentation of the results and the reflections on the survey were followed by an insight from a local administration and a discussion on possible solutions to the challenges as a path towards a more sustainable management of Posidonia banquettes on Mediterranean beaches.

The outcomes of the webinar will represent an important input for the development of the transnational joint Strategy and Action Plan for Posidonia beaches/dunes systems management in the entire region, as the main outcome of Posbemed project.
