IUCN-Med receives award for its work | |

![]() The International Union for Conservation of Nature Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (UICN-Med) receives one of the awards to the 10 best ideas to save nature. RED Life and Cajar Rural del Sur Foundation announce each year the "10 Best Ideas to Save Nature" awards, that is a peculiar Top 10 whose aim is to recognize the effort of people and organizations throughout the year to conserve biodiversity. Magazine RED LIFE and Caja Rural del Sur Foundation have chosen, for five consecutive years, the TEN BEST IDEAS TO SAVE NATURE, according to the opinion of almost four thousand readers. In order to make the selection, the ideas are voted by the readers of RED LIFE magazine and the users of www.naturahoy.com. The presentation of the awards will take place on Thursday 16 june 2011 at 10.00 at the headquarters of Fundación Caja Rural del Sur in Seville. • Fund to Wild Animal Protection (FAPAS). It created some measures to ensure the return of the osprey to Cantabria. • Defense and Study of Environment (DEMA). Program to reintroduce lesser kestrel in Alhambra environment, Granada. • La Cañada de los Pájaros. On 1986, a couple of biologists created in La Puebla del Río (Seville) a place that has become a sanctuary to endangered birds. • SEO/BirdLife. Actions to fight against the illegal use of poison in Spain. • Friends of Imperial Eagle Foundation. It established some measures to protect the habitat of the imperial eagle. • CEPSA. Refinery "La Rábida". Restoration and conservation of Laguna Primera de Palos (Huelva). This organization continues 10 years after its creation organizing informative and researching activities about natural areas and biodiversity. • Conservation, Research and Study on Cetaceans (CIRCE). Campaign of cetaceans sighting from Tarifa (Cadiz), as a measure to encourage awareness and citizen education about the necessity of conserving our seas. More info: antonio.troya@iucn.org | |
